With the guidance of Kim Yokers, the clinic will improve players' technical skills and ball mastery through the help of the SRT program. Recently, SRT has created a ball machine that gives consistent passes at different speeds and heights to allow the player to make adjustments and learn proper techniques. We’d like to thank all of you for making it out to Beach Chalet Soccer Fields last Saturday for our second tryout session. It was an enormous success with 1,000+ kids on hand, dozens of our best coaches, and three great fields to stretch out on and watch some fantastic and talented kids. We’d also like to thank the many parent volunteers that made the event go smoothly, kept the coaches well fueled with coffee and hydrated with water, as well as those that got there extra early and stayed extra late to set-up and break down what was an impressive set of SF Glens Evolution signage. Tryouts are never perfect but we hope that we got a lot more right than we got wrong. If you would like to make a comment or suggestion about tryouts, please visit our Tryout Page on the SFGlensEvolution.org website, complete our short survey and leave us your comment or suggestion. Tryouts Next Steps: What’s Happening Now For the last 10 days, our coaches have been getting together, comparing notes, and discussing teams and possible rosters for fall. It’s an enormous task but one they thoroughly enjoy as the exciting possibility of working with so many great kids and their families is why coaches are in the business in the first place. This week and through next weekend some of you may be hearing from our coaches in order to clarify a few things or better gauge interest. We will then begin the process of sending out formal offers for your consideration. Please keep in mind that under a city-wide agreement no one needs to make a commitment before February 10, 2016. In addition, SF Glens Evolution, due its size and high number of top coaches, follows a “club” model in many of our more competitive age groups. This means that players not initially selected for a Black (“first”) team always have the opportunity to earn their way onto those teams (or any team they set their sights on) as they develop and can be “called up” at any time. We also play a high number of tournaments as well as the prestigious NorCal Premier State Cup where rosters are expanded to give a broader set of players the chance to compete at the highest levels of soccer available. You can review the entire process by looking at our 2016 Tryout FAQ page. Congratulations to These Glens Evolution Players We’d like to recognize the following SF Glens Evolution players—Takumi Elbert (2001), Zach Thomas (2003), Kol Bassuk (’2004), Bradley Berman (2004), and Barry Cahalane (2004)—for making their respective Cal North ODP player pool! In addition, TK, Kol and Zach have been further selected to the travel squad and will be competing against the very best players their age. Also, four players on Evolution ’02 Black have been selected to travel and train at the West Ham United Academy in London later this spring. In addition to the aforementioned Kol Bassuk, Omataye Martins (2002), Liam O’Brien (2003), and Owen Flanagan (2002) will be flying over to London and spending a week training, competing and learning about the famed West Ham club, as well as taking in some sights and a Premiership match. We are proud of these players and all SF Glens Evolution boys and girls that are working hard and chasing their soccer dreams! SF Glens Evolution Coaches and Staff at NSCAA Convention in Baltimore & NorCal AGM in San Ramon Over the last few weeks, several SF Glens Evolution coaches and staff participated in important national and regional events on behalf of the club. Both in Baltimore and San Ramon, they made new friends and contacts, shared the growing excitement over our merged club, as well as learned about exciting new programs and opportunities for coaches and players alike. Stay tuned this spring as you will be hearing about some of these terrific programs, which will help us take our club to the next level. Follow Us on Twitter and Facebook! SF Glens Evolution is up and running on Twitter and Facebook (and soon will be on several other social media platforms as well). Please take a moment to visit our Twitter Page and our Facebook Page, give us a follow or a like, and feel free to share and post. SF Glens Evolution is not a business; it’s a club. Your club. And one designed to serve your child’s soccer development from micro through top, academy-level play. Along the way there will be wins and losses, many events, memories, and good times that we’d like to see our community share with us online. Thank you from everyone at SF Glens Evolution!! Next Steps in Place to Insure Every Player Gets Proper Placement on a Fall 2016 Team Many thanks to the parents and players, as well as SF Glens Evolution coaches, staff, and volunteers, that made our second tryout date a terrific event. Again, we had over 1,000 players attend and we were not only inspired by the beautiful setting at Beach Chalet Soccer Fields but the amazing talent on display. Our club will be getting in touch with each and every player very soon as we pride ourselves on having the right team placement opportunity for players of all levels. In the meantime, please take a moment to look below at a few of the pictures and videos from the terrific day, read our 2016 Tryout FAQ to learn exactly what happens next, or let us know if you have any further questions. Additionally, if you have a player that was unable to attend either of our tryout sessions please contact us to see if an individual evaluation may be made. SF Glens Evolution Organization wishes to thank all who came out to our 1st tryout yesterday at Crocker Amazon. We hope you found the process and people we had in place very efficient and organized, and we hope your child had a good overall tryout experience.
History was made yesterday in San Francisco: Over 1,200 players attend our tryout event yesterday. The quality and enthusiasm of the players was something that all of our teams of coaches were talking about. We are all truly excited and proud to be a part of this new club, SF Glens Evolution, and we look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible to be a part of it as well. A few reminders:
THANKS AGAIN AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AT THE BRAND NEW COMPLEX AT BEACH CHALET ON THE 23RD! The time to register for Spring 2016 Micro play is upon us, and SF Glens Evolution makes it easy to register your U5-U7 player (born on or after August 1, 2008), individually, or register your team. Please know that your age group for Spring 2016 does NOT change from the Fall 2015 age group you may have played in. So, if you were 5 years old on Aug 1, 2015 and played as a U-6 player this past Fall season, then you stay as Under-6 division , even though you or players on your team, may have turned 6 years old.
The age group of the team is based on the age of the oldest player as of Aug 1, 2015. The upcoming Spring season will run from approximately mid-March through mid-May. By clicking on the button above or below you can register as a player for the coming season. Note that you will need to create an account with GotSoccer (our official registration partner). If you need to register a team and/or find a coach, SF Glens Evolution can take care of all it for you. Please call 415-349-8333 for details. Our Micro Program specializes in creating an atmosphere where youngsters can flourish in a soccer setting as they are encouraged to try new and creative things without the fear of failure.
