COMPETITIVE SOCCER

Picture

The SF Glens Competitive soccer program is for girls and boys, U8 and older (birth year 2018 - 2007), who want to work hard, develop their skills and soccer experience, and compete against the best players in the most competitive playing leagues and competitions.

We offer a complete player development path for all levels of competitive players and teams. And due to our access to non-City fields and facilities, we can provide players a chance to compete in the top leagues and top state competitions earlier than any other program here in San Francisco.

Our competitive program features top coaches (more licensed coaches than any club in San Francisco), a committed technical staff, and access to added training, events, and soccer experiences (some of our top players and teams travel abroad to experience professional academies). Everything is geared toward player development based upon a club model (multiple teams per age group), as well as a proven curriculum of technical skills accompanied by a carefully planned and age-appropriate introduction to tactics.

With competitive soccer at SF Glens Soccer Club, the commitment level from the players and families is more demanding. Our competitive teams train, at a minimum, two times per week with the top teams often securing additional private training time and clinics.

Additionally, competitive teams typically participate in both the level-appropriate tournaments and few of the top teams may require teams to travel for overnight stays or possibly out of state for games.

The Club offers every level of youth soccer competition, including but not limited to MLS NEXT, Girls Academy, National Premier League (NPL) Club Status, NorCal Premier Soccer, SF Youth Competitive (Upper House), and Micro Soccer. We also are affiliated with ODP via Cal North and PDP through U.S. Club Soccer.

We are the ONLY SF CLUB with MLS NEXT in ALL age groups (U13-U14-U15-U16-U17-U19) and Girls Academy in ALL age groups, and NPL Club (U13-U19 Boys)

The Gl
ens have been awarded Players First (P1) Club Status, a stamp of approval from U.S. Club Soccer on the club's development philosophy and execution. We are also proud to have never turned away a single family due to financial hardship thanks to our Scholarship Fund.

We are the the first SF club with our own facility at Treasure Island. Be a part of what we're building together in San Francisco!

PLAYING TIME POLICY

Playing time requirements varies at each program.  Below is the guideline for each program.

SF Competitive program : 40% Minimum
Travel Competitive - NorCal : 33% Minimum*
Travel Competitive - MLS Next/NPL : 25% Minimum*

* Playing time can be affected by practice attendance

GUEST PLAYER POLICY

SFYS Competitive program :  Our guest player policy is to allow players extra opportunity to guest play for other SF Competitive team based on the guideline set by SF Youth Soccer.  Usually SF Youth Soccer set a limit of 2 guest players for a team to have and guest players are only allowed to guest play for teams in the SF Comp Upperhouse league.

Travel Competitive - NorCal/NPL/MSL Next/Girls Academy: Travel competitive teams competing in the NorCal premier league are free to guest on other NorCal travel teams within the club.  Our guest player policy is to allow players extra opportunities to get game experience following a "club model".  Players  who are excelling at their current level will have the opportunity to play at a higher level or age group to offer an expansive development program.

SAN FRANCISCO RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

SF Glens' programs are designed for SF residents with limited exceptions.  Teams U14 and under (birth year 2011 and younger) are allowed to have two non SF residents on the team.  Teams U15 and up (birth year 2010 and older) are allowed to have three non SF residents on the team in order to meet the residency requirement to receive SFRPD fields for practice and games.  Currently all SF Glens' competitive teams meet SF residency requirements.   Please visit the residency documents page to see what kind of documents are needed to prove the residency.
