PRACTICES

How do i know if MY GRAss field practice is rained out?
Refer to SF Rec and Park's Field Rain Out link sfrecpark.org/507/Field-Rain-Out-Info
Always check with your teams coach first.
What is the practice field selection process?
San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department allocates fields to all teams and uses a system called Spotery.com for fair and transparent allocation process.  Each team will get draft time randomly assigned by SF Rec and park and each team can only pick a field from available fields during the assigned time.  Due to the high demand for fields, there is often a shortage of quality fields available to younger aged teams.
WHEN do practices start and end?
  • For most teams, Fall Season practices begin first week of August and finish about mid/late November.
  • Winter trainings take place December to late February.  For younger teams, these trainings are typically less strenuous, and more to keep players moving and connected with each other in the offseason. New players who have registered for spring season may have an option to train in the winter months with their team.
  • Spring Season practices typically begin the first week of March and end in mid May.
  • Typically, practices schedules change four times a year, Fall, 1st half of winter, 2nd half of winter, and spring.
How long Are practices?
  • U8 - U10 - One 60 to 75 minute training per week during fall and spring seasons.
  • U11 - U12 - Two 75 to 90 minute trainings per week during fall and spring seasons.
  • U13 - U19 - Two or Three 90 minute trainings per week during fall and spring seasons.
Beach Chalet does not allow U8 - U12 practice permits during the fall and spring seasons.

GAMES

Where and When are games?
The games are generally on the weekends, at home and away fields. They can be scheduled for anytime on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Micro League and SFYS Games are all played locally at fields in San Francisco.
  • NorCal Premier League, NPL, and MLS Next Games can be played at a home field, or an away field. The leagues issue a tentative schedule that indicates dates the two teams can play each other. The managers and coaches of the two teams must communicate to find a time that works for the coaches and teams. The game dates can also change from the originally proposed date if both teams agree.
When will i know my player's Game schedule?
As managers and coaches of the teams communicate to find available field slots and times that work for both coaches and teams, the schedule is moved around. This can take a few weeks at the beginning of each season before all games are scheduled.   You will find the game schedule in Byga
