SF GLENS SOCCER CLUB
 NEWS

Thank You for Making The SF Evolution Cup Better Than Ever

5/31/2016

I want to thank all teams that participated and came to San Francisco for a great weekend of soccer! We had 257 teams, 7 locations and 35 Champions crowned. I saw many happy faces on the players. The quality of the competition was very good and in most cases was very appropriate for each level.

We really want to see the teams back every year as we learn from challenges that we discover or surface from your insightful feedback so that we can continue to create a great experience for your team and club. Please send us your email with comment at info@sfglensevolution.org or directly to our tournament staff at
evolutioncup@evolutionfc.org .

Also, please know that we have a small lost and found box that has some items that may have been lost. If you lost something, please send us an email and we can check to see if it is yours.

In addition, we have other fantastic tournaments coming up that we hope to see you at:

1) The Golden Gate International
  • Sept 3rd-5th (a 3-day event held on Labor Day weekend)
  • Open to all ages 2008-1998 Boys & Girls
  • Learn More & Register: http://www.evolutionfc.org/page/show/1859218-golden-gate-international-2016

2) The Kevin Maguire Celtic Cup
  • This event will be a Premier, Gold, Silver & Bronze event held in Mid February for younger boys and girls.
  • Learn More & Register: https://events.gotsport.com/forms/app/Default.aspx?EventID=46474

We really appreciate you choosing our tournaments, we know you have choices and we hope to have you back year after year! Thank you for making the San Francisco Evolution Cup 2016 a huge success!

Best regards,
Dave Anderson
SFGE Tournament Director

SF Evolution Cup is Here !! Details Below.

5/24/2016

The 2016 SF Evolution Cup Schedule is now complete and there will be no more changes as we move on to other business of the coming weekend.

Below you will learn about check-in, parking, weather and some of the things available at each game site. Please remember that you are coming to a big city....do not leave your soccer bags(or anything) in plain view inside your car as smash and grabs are an everyday occurrence here.

1) Final Schedules: Please click here.

2) Team Check in: We will host an optional Friday night check in at our club office, located at 1500 Geneva Ave, SF CA 94112. We expect mostly local teams to show up and help us  get some of this completed before the games begin. ALL other teams who do not check in on Friday will check in at the Field where they play their 1st game. Teams should arrive a minimum of 1 hour before the first game on Saturday. Only the Manager or coach is needed with the passes and roster (US CLUB or CYSA Goldenrod, or AYSO). PLEASE COMPLETE YOUR ROSTER FOR THIS EVENT ON GOTSOCCER- THIS IS WHAT WE USE TO POPULATE THE GAME CARDS. (please complete this by Wednesday evening).

3) Weather: The weather report is calling for sun over the weekend and low 70's. Well, if you have ever been to San Francisco....never go anywhere without a jacket handy- it is known to get cold and windy rather quickly.

4) Things to know about the facility you are at:

Crocker Amazon: 5 artificial turf fields which has 2 parking lots which fill up fast! Please avoid parking on the dirt which is super tempting as it looks safe and legal...but it is NOT! You will get a ticket and never want to come back. We have our Tournament Merchandise for sale here from A Fine Design Co.(custom shirts and hoodies). Food at this location is served by the building which has a walk up window and the specialty served here are Papusas (yum). Service here is sometimes slow so allow for time or you may be frustrated. Also, be mindful that you are in a big city and keep an eye on all of your items. Do not leave cell phones, etc unattended. This location also has random  people who walk around and recycle your water bottles- they are not tournament staff, but have become part of the landscape at this location.

South Sunset: 3 smaller artificial turf fields near the zoo on 41st Ave & Wawona Street. Parents will watch the games from the outer sidelines of field 1 and 3 and squeeze in on field 2. No food will be served at this location, but one of our tournament sponsors is located around the corner: Java Beach> A great place to order coffee and bagels in the morning to gourmet signature sandwiches.

West Sunset: 2 Grass Fields. No food located here,  but you will have a great view of the ocean on a sunny day!

Beach Chalet: 8 smaller fields artificial turf. This is the crown jewel in San Francisco right now! You will love this location and all it offers. A fine Design Co  (tournament merchandise), Food, built in restaurant accessible by a path, and a photographer who will have some creative ideas for your team and players. Parking here could be a challenge in the small lot. It is best to park outside the lot and walk in. You can even park at the beach and walk in from the back of the complex.

Polo Fields: 6 Full size Grass Fields. Be careful where you park as this place is hard to tell if it is illegal or not? You should be ok parking around the complex, but stay off grass areas which will certainly land you a ticket. This complex has 2 main tunnel entrances on the south and North sides, but is also accessible from the west side. Here you will have A Fine Design (Tournament Merchandise), Food, Smoothies, etc.

Treasure Island: We are excited to host for the 1st time at this location! 3 Grass Fields. Food should be available as well as smoothie patrol. Dramatic views of the city are discovered from the Island while you watch  soccer from the middle of the Bay sitting between SF & Oakland.

Pollicita: 1 Turf Field. This field is located in Daly City at 550 E Market St. For parking> go around the school and onto Orange St where the parking lot is. No  amenities at this location, Just soccer!

We look forward to seeing you this weekend for a fabulous Memorial Day Weekend in SF!

Thank you,
Dave Anderson
SF Evolution Cup Tournament Director

Tradition, Community, Excellence

Evolution Cup 2016
This upcoming Memorial Day weekend (May 28-30) sees the return of the much anticipated Evolution Cup and with the tournament falling perfectly in sync with the end of Spring season there’s no better way to kick off your summer. The tournament, which is set to host over two hundred teams, does still have a limited number of spots available.

Sponsorship of the tournament is currently available and we are offering a great opportunity to advertise your business or organization in our tournament program – which will be distributed to each of the 200+ teams. A heavily discounted rate is available to our members and community so don’t miss out on this fantastic chance to spread the word on your business. If you or anybody you know may be interested in sponsoring this event, or would like more details please contact Benkay here.

Summer Camp Registration & Celtic Camp
Summer is rapidly approaching and that means that the Glens Evolution inaugural summer camps are right around the corner! Registration is now open and we are excited to announce five weeks of soccer fun throughout June and August.

The summer camps are perfect for both girls and boys between the ages of 5-13 and are an ideal way to get your little ones active and out of the house whilst honing their skills. We offer full day, half day, pre-care and after-care for all camps. To register, please click here.

We are also extremely excited to announce that we will be holding an exclusive Celtic FC camp this summer. Coaches from the Scottish Champions will be flying over for a week in June to implement their style and help to teach our boys and girls to play the Celtic way! Spots on this extremely unique summer camp are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. Please visit the website for more information, pricing and sign up details.

Spring BBQ
SFGE will also be hosting a club wide barbeque in order to celebrate the end of Spring season. This event is an excellent opportunity for parents, players and our entire community to come together to socialize and enjoy some quality BBQ favorites. Fill in your diaries as the event is scheduled to take place on Sunday June 5th at Old Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park. The grill will fire up at 1pm and will go to approximately 5pm. We hope that everyone is available to join us as we look to begin the summer in style!

General Club News
With the current season drawing to a close, our teams within the club are looking for a strong end to the campaign. A special mention must go to our SFGE ’03 Black boys team that currently sits atop of the NorCal Premier Division West. With a stalwart defense that has conceded just six goals this term, the team has put together an extremely impressive 100% record over the season. With just two games remaining, there is a five point gap between them and second place Juventus SC.

We would like to send our best wishes to all of our teams and players for the remainder of the season and we hope you enjoy the final practices and games. Also, a huge thank you must go to our families for all of your dedication and commitment that has helped make this Spring season a successful one.
